"Kondo Dyeing Studio", established in 1898 (Meiji 31),
created this tenugui cloth using their traditional dyeing technique of
brush drawing and hand dyeing.
To draw outlines, the artisans put glue on a cloth and once the glue dries,
they dye the cloth using brushes. By changing the brush depending on the color,
it enhances the color's consistency and evenness.
Each step of all the process is carried out manually by the artisans.
Long considered as good luck charms in Japan,
crane, turtle, and gourd are illustrated on this tenugui.
Designed by Yotsubasha's Ms. Michiko Abe.
You can put it in a frame, hang it on the wall as a tapestry or
use it as a wrapping cloth.
This tenugui also can be the best gift for your significant other!
